Belts are tightening the most around the middle

(9/11/2008)    Businesses shared their insights this week on the summer of 2008, with mixed reports on how trends in the national economy have trickled through to the East End. For most, the summer was neither fabulous nor disastrous, with middle-class consumers tightening their belts as the very wealthy continued to spend. As cold weather approaches, businesses are now focused on keeping afloat in the face of rising oil prices and fewer seasonal shoppers.  see more here
