Hampton Bays, the eastern most village that is west of the Shinnecock canal, the line of demarcation that is often debated as being the beginning of “the Hamptons” is the focus of many medium and large scale developments. In the past, most new development was squashed by the “locals” all getting together and intimidating their neighbor politicians into denying applications, or at least making it extremely difficult to reach approval. If I remeber correctly, it took the McDonald’s in Hampton Bays close to 5 years and numerous lawsuits to gain approval to build. That’s determination!
